It’s so hard to go for jobs as there’s a lot of them I can do most of the job for but there’s still a fair bit I don’t know how to do, are these still worth applying for or should you know how to do the majority of what they’re asking?

It's worth throwing your hat in the ring if you hit like 60%+ of the requirements. They're wish lists more than anything. In this market, I'd recommend against being overly selective about the listings you apply to. It takes no time to submit an application. You might as well go for it and let the HM decide if you're not a good fit. No reason to do their job for them.

Wow 60+ is more than I thought. Okay maybe I’ll broaden my horizons then.

Ask yourself if you have the core competencies down. Almost everyone walks into a job missing some small part of it, but if you have the foundation, it’s not too bad to catch up on the rest.

True j guess having the core worked out is good, you can adapt to a lot of other stuff after.

I would apply more often than not! Sometimes not all requirements are truly required. So often worth it to try at least.

I mean I guess it doesn’t hurt to apply does it.

Last week, I mentioned that I needed to take an appointment (my therapy appointment) this Wednesday at noon. I also mentioned that this is a medical appointment, and I don’t feel comfortable moving the appointment. I just received an email that I need to be available. How can I stick to my boundary?

There’s no excuse that by the age of 25 you have never tried therapy. I’m speaking directly to the demographic in this group who I’m sure over 95% of people in here are earning 6 figures. Key word: TRY. I understand it’s not for everyone but to have never even attempted seeking therapy is a injustice to yourself and the people around you.

How realistic is it to land an AD position as a fresh grad (with a doctorates) and a handful of pharma & FDA interships? Context: I'll have over a year of (consistent) work experience at a large pharma company and I have prior leadership/mgt experience (< 10 yrs) in a gov't role prior to changing careers and pursuing a doctorates.

Also, whats the pay difference between Sr Manager and AD at a large pharma company? TIA!

Started a new job a year ago, high performer. My manager suggested a promotion to Product Manager since that‘s the work I’m doing, but that would be a 50% raise. Higher ups decided instead to make a “new role” (not PM), that has no analog in the company and is hard to price via Glassdoor, etc. I feel like this is to limit my promotion salary to something like 10% from where it currently is. Is there anything I can do? FWIW: I have a PhD from top 5 program and am working in that field. Thanks!

My husband just received a job offer on an opportunity he is really excited about. It would be great for his career and they are giving the 15% jump in base he asked for, however they won’t share what the target bonus amount would be. It’s an executive director position, so I would assume it’s a decent target bonus, but without that in writing it could honestly be a gift basket at the end of the year. Is it a red flag for them to not share this? His total comp could be less at this new job…

For expert witnesses/lawyers

I’m a former forensic scientist that left the field several years ago. I recently received a subpoena from a case I worked and suggested to DA to have evidence re-worked by the lab or stipulation. If I am required to testify (as an expert witness), I would need to book a flight, hotel, etc. My question is this: can I ask for my requested hourly rate, travel, and hotel to be covered when speaking with DA or is that “not how this works” as the investigator put it?

Should I Go Back and Reneg? Recently I was offered a role as a Project Implementation Manager (In Retirement Services) .The salary range for Colorado residents was 65-89K. I’m located in NY so the recruiter said he would try to get me more. Ultimately he came back at 90K which is a bit inline with that I was seeing on Glassdoor but approx looks like I may leave 10-12K on the table. I accepted already but may get an offer from another HR company in account management around 90-100K. Need advice

I got an offer from Cigna are they typically open to negotiations on hourly pay? 👀👀👀👀 I just need like $3 more/hr… that’s it.

Got offered 68k after 2 years as a contractor (62.5k) doing project management/business admin in a tech department at a Fortune 500 bank. I have an A.S degree and working on my bachelor’s/masters may 2024. I negotiated to 84k NYC. I have seen interns get offered 38 per hour (79k) for internship positions with a similar role.

Thoughts? Should I go higher? I do my job well that’s why they decided to keep me as a contractor after my internship.

I’m currently in a lease admin type role, in commercial real estate. I make a base salary of $50.5K with about $9k in bonuses. I’ve continuously received 7-10% raises over the last 3 years. I anticipate getting a promotion this year and would like to get closer to $60k for my base salary. I’m the only person in my role at the company and have been a key person in developing our team as we look to expand. Is this unreasonable? Is there a normal increase given with promotions? Thanks in advance!

I’ve been approached my by company that one of our large clients (who im currently project managing for) is looking for a consultant of sorts, and if they hire us, I’d be the first person asked to take on this consultant role. If so, were you able to negotiate a percentage of the consulting fee? Or was it a bump in salary during the project?
