Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

Was in a very similar boat, making about 95k in a lower COL city almost fully remote (but the company I was working for had extremely good benefits).
Asked for 145k coming in as AVP in NYC and received my asking salary.
It still doesn't feel like I'm making that much more money between the higher COL in NYC, shitty benefits at citi (no 401k match your first year?), etc. But I'm happy to be in a better job market and to be in a role that I feel has a better career trajectory, so I feel like I made the right choice.
Also, they initially told me my asking salary was "a bit on the high end" and that they would have to check to see of they could go that high. They did without any further issue, but I think I made an extremely favorable impression on the hiring manager during my interview, and they were looking to bring someone on board right away, so that may have had something to do with it.
Can speak to NYC, but that seems about right. Still, like CS1 said, always negotiate. Always always. Are you currently an AVP, or is this a title jump?

4 of 5 offers are under budget. It should be expected. They will not pull the offer, in the app, we explain how to be friendly about it.
You can do it.

Always negotiate for more than the offer. Four out of five offers are below budget. You are welcome to use the negotiation program in the career app I’m building. It’s totally free. We also have a First100 day on the job program. www.cheaseed.com
