“Hi there. Did you mean to embed ChatGPT code into the message you sent me? It’s a little garbled with some weird lines of code on our end, and I just wanted to make sure you meant to cut and paste that.”
The “fill them with paranoia” approach, basically.

Does your company have a policy about feeding your creative work into an AI? If so try to use that.
Remember if they are putting your work into an ai they are training it on your intellectual property
To clarify, do you mean the clients IP or the companies? I was speaking in terms of the creative being the companies IP
This literally happened to me too. They entered my whole write-up into ChatGPT with the prompt “make it more Gen-Z” and it was insanely cringe. When in reality, they could have just said to me “Can you integrate more internet-speak / Gen-Z language?” — as simple as that.
My ECD gave me some valuable insight though: “Those clients are not assholes, they’re just unsophisticated.” And that made me feel a lot better.
I’ve experienced this as well. “I ran your copy through ChatGPT and I like this better.” Then they act like they know how to be a copywriter. Same client also knows a little Canva and is now a designer. She told our Creative Director “I’ll send you some mock-ups.” Leadership won’t help or support the team.
It’s infuriating and I have no idea how to stop them from doing it, but I try to dig into feedback with them and ask more questions around their reasoning so now they actually have to think.
It is the wave of the future. I suggest you learn and embrace it.
