How old was the job posting? Ideally, you should submit your application within 24 hours since it was posted. If LinkedIn says there were 100+ applicant, I wouldn’t even bother sending my application even if I was 95% match. That being said, it is not you! It is just the system we have to deal with!
I have the LinkedIn premium and I can see exactly how many hit the "apply" button. Companies like Nvidia have like 900-1,100 applicants. Assuming an average person hits the apply button thrice, my personal experience, you can easily assume there were about 300 or so applicants. That is just for a single location where the role was posted. If the role is posted at 4 different locations, multiply applicant number by 3 assuming some locations are not as popular as others. But average roles/company have about 300-500 apply button hits.
Ghost job posting is now a huge pandemic in the job market. Always look out for certain factors, time of posting number of applicants counts (LinkedIn).
Not all jobs is worth applying, this is why I use platforms like Glassdoor to get reviews about employers. You just keep being creative and do what you do, opportunities will come, just make sure it meets you prepared whenever it comes.
