I did have one 2 years ago, there was a programming question something to do with traversing a chess board. And a lot of follow up questions requiring a video explanation.

So I was laid off back in mid April after 5 short months with a job that I absolutely loved. I’m applying to mid-senior level jobs and being told that I’m overqualified and should apply for VP level jobs. When I apply to VP level jobs I’m told those are hired internally. So, do I just lie on the resume to dumb it down?! Also- should I list the layoff in the resume and then in the ATS they have so it doesn’t look like I wasn’t just quitting after 5 months? I have it in my cover letter but is it

Question on US and Canada Tax,
One of my friends moved from US to Canada on work permit. He was holding RSUs in US which got vested while he is in Canada. His firm paid taxes in US on vested stocks. His T4 included the vested amount along with Canadian income, so he ended up paying taxes in Canada as well. Should he file for tax adjustment / refund in US or in Canada as he was double taxed?

I’ve got about 20 years cross channel experience in marketing, split between big brands and startups, and I’m considering pivoting into a data science/data analyst role. I know it will initially be a step back in comp but is it at all realistic for a person with certificate level experience in data analysis but a decent marketing management background to expect $150-200k comp or is that mostly for degreed candidates (or not realistic at all)? Any guidance here is greatly appreciated.

I’ve been a data analyst for a little over a year for my current employer. I manage databases, input new information, solve issues utilizing root-cause analysis, and I maintain reports on a daily basis. The only thing I don’t do is work with coding such a SQL. I’m currently enrolled in Coursera Google Data Analytics Certification to learn more about SQL.
I want to get a job in data analytics that uses SQL. How do I show that I know SQL without having direct SQL related work experience?

like

What sorts of SQL questions are typically asked in interview questions for senior data analysis jobs? Like is knowing SQL from freecodecamp enough or should I look into taking a course online?

I’ve unfortunately not gotten the chance to use SQL in my current position so I don’t feel like I have enough experience in it, but have experience in everything else (Python, tableau, storytelling, etc)

Also, if anyone is willing to look over my resume and give me tips on how to make it more presentable for recruiters in DA that would be very helpful. Thanks

This has led to issues in self-referencing title. I’ve been project manager, data engineer, developer, modeler, analysts, principle DB developer, etc. Most of my w2 work has been from offers of 1099 clients so I am usually asked to define my own title. Any T-shaped data people who run into this?
