At the risk of sounding really shallow, what keeps me motivated long term is simply that I know I need a job. I've been able to live reasonably well and put away some money, and that's important to me. In today's world you never know for sure if you've got job security, but it seems like I do, so that sense of stability helps with motivation.

That makes sense, and you’ve got a good point! It is always motivating to know that your position is secure.
NOT trying to be productive all the time. The expectation of sustained motivation is unrealistic. I do what's needed when motivation is low, give myself credit for it, and wait for the motivation to reappear, as it always does. When that happens, I more than make up for whatever productivity was "lost" when my motivation was lacking.

I really like this outlook. It sounds like a good way to avoid burnout!

What has helped me get out my slump is to just take each day one at a time, I feel like if I don’t think about the what ifs or possible changes that can be bad, I only focus on the present and keep charging forward

This sounds like a very freeing way to go about it😅
