Resist trying to change things and mold the team to your style or the ways you're used to doing them. Spend the first month or so learning. You're joining their team not the other way around. Learn how they do things do things. Try to understand why they're done that way. Meet with each team member one on one and ask them for their thoughts about what's working and what's not. Take notes. Compare them all after you've met with everyone and after you've experienced a month in their shoes. Then start identifying where you can make your biggest impact. Focus on that - maybe it's culture or new business or quality control or team development.

Biggest mistake new leaders make is coming in and trying to show everyone you're the big dog swooping in to make everything better. You're not. You'd just piss everyone off and make them leave.

Read up on the client’s business/category, and particularly about how they are being covered. Knowing their business will make you better at yours.

Find out as much as you can about the team you’ll be working with. Who are they and what roles do each play? What challenges on the team are they looking for you to help address? Regarding the client, figure out what pillar of the business the agency handles and see if you can get examples of previous campaigns or things coming up that the team has done.

A lot of agencies don’t really send anything too in-depth before a person starts and I usually tell people joining a new agency remotely it can now take weeks to feel fully immersed. I started a new agency mid-2020 and just recently started at a new place a few weeks ago. Both onboarding experiences were very slow which can feel off-putting when you’re just sitting around.

Best thing to do those first few weeks is get to know as much as you can about the team, the work, and the role you’ll be playing. Good luck!!

Anyone had experience promotion during/after pregnancy? I’m working in a team I love and planning to get pregnant. But last week, my boss quit which throws me to an awkward position. If my boss didn’t quit, I have high chance to get promoted at the end of year. But now, everything is uncertain. If I don’t get promoted this year, I prob won’t next year bc I will take a lot of maternity leave. Need some advice here.

I’ve been with company for a little over 3 years as a Talent Acquisition Specialist. There’s been recent changes within Leadership that has caused everyone to leave, except myself. My workload has increased and I’ve taken on a bulk of the work as we rebuild our team. All recent hires on my team, same role as me, has been receiving a much higher salary. Of course the market has changed since I’ve been here however, the newbies are reaping the benefits of it. How should I request for a raise?

1 yr ago I went from full-time to PRN at work. I’ve been there 4 yrs. I told my manager today am taking a full-time position at the other hospital in town. I’ve never been led to feel so shitty in my life. He kept saying how horrible the dept am going is and their people always want to come work at our place. Although I’m PRN he wants 4 weeks again. I said I’m not full time why do I need to give 4 weeks? Well if I don’t, I become ineligible for any future rehire.

I was wondering if I should wait until I hit Senior then start recruiting with the Senior title or just start recruiting now. Thanks!
