I’ve been in the trenches of a long job search for months, and I feel like the longer it goes on, the more it looks like a red flag to employers. Even though, as we all know, the job market is a mess. Are there any new and exciting ways to explain a long gap without sounding desperate or like something is wrong with you?

By definition, a stranger popping out of a dark alley with a "Psst, come here, I've got something for you" can't possibly be offering anything good.

I have been looking for a job for the past couple of months, and I have not had employers comment on me being unemployed for the last few months. If it is a good employer, then imo they should be satisfied with the truth ... I've been looking for awhile and just haven't found the right fit yet in a tough job market.

To have the gap be less obvious, you could always change the way your resume lists the timeline of your employment to years instead of exact months (i.e., 2021-2026 instead of something like August 2021 - February 2026.) This way you are showing you worked at your prior position this year and aren't highlighting the months you weren't there. You just have to explain you are no longer at your prior position and are looking for a fresh start. This is also assuming you haven't been unemployed for over a year.

Has anyone quit their job because of a relationship? I started my job 3 months ago and now my employer wants me to move to NY. The thing is, I fell in love during the pandemic with a friend that I have known for 3 years. It's frustrating since I know I could continue my job from home. I would honestly quit my job and wouldn't mind the job search again.

Are there any mothers here who voluntarily gave primary custody to the kids father? I love my children fiercely but tbh I don’t think I’m cut out to be a single parent. Family and friends tell me I’m a great mom but at the end of the day having them on my own is exhausting and I end up just either letting them do whatever they want Bc I don’t feel strong enough to set a limit about it, or yelling at them. They’re 4 and 7 for reference. Please constructive responses only. Thank you!
