I’ve been seeing so many job descriptions lately with a $25k+ salary spread. Let’s be real: a $25,000 gap isn't just a slight variation in the budget. That is a massive difference in pay and livelihood. When applicants see a wide range, they assume their years of experience and specialized skills will dictate where they land. If the approved budget is strictly for the lower end of the band, just post that number. Save everyone the time and frustration. Agree?

Agree, wasting time on both sides when the higher end isn’t really obtainable. I’d almost rather skip the job posts that are that wide. Seems more like a red flag now.

Those super wide salary ranges are starting to feel like a straight up warning sign these days. Like "$80k–$160k" screams "we'll pay whatever we can get away with, and good luck guessing where you'll land." Wastes everyone's time: you apply, interview, get excited, then the offer comes in at the absolute floor and you're left feeling played.

Agree !!!!
Then when you open the posting to apply, you find the real hiring salary which is the very bottom of their payscale, and it is half of current salary. I know I stayed longer than I should have at my most recent employer.

Yeah, that exact scenario is the worst. You click on the "apply" button all hopeful, then boom, the actual posted range stares back at you like $60k–$80k when you're sitting at $120k+ right now. It's like they bait and switch without even trying to hide it.

I absolutely agree with you. I hate nothing more than when a job posting has a massive range listed. To me, that is a big red flag. And then they usually make an offer that is at the lowest end of the range they posted.

those massive ranges are basically a neon sign saying theyre going to lowball you unless you force their hand

I’m having a really hard time with my changing body. 13 weeks, I don’t have too many bad side effects of pregnancy or anything so I consider myself lucky (no nausea ever etc) but I’m depressed at work, my skin is completely broken out and showing new broken face capillaries, and I’m not showing a bump yet so I just feel fat and big. I don’t know where this “glow” is but I look in the mirror and literally am grappling with not recognizing myself :( it’s been impossible to find any clothes too.
