I am about to turn 65 and I feel like I am been pushed out. Do we have employee advocacy at FIS?
Pro
I'm really sorry you're feeling that way. It might be worth checking if FIS has an employee advocacy or HR support channel?
I personally feel that if you let factors outside of your control dictate your career, you'll always find a reason. Too old, too young, too female, too nice, too aggressive. People succeed every single day despite all the things working against them because they choose not to be limited.
Pro
That’s a powerful mindset. There will always be something people can point to as a reason not to move forward, but choosing not to be defined by that can make all the difference.
I agree, it mainly depends on those hiring and their own biases
Pro
Totally agree, so much of it comes down to the mindset and biases of those making the decisions.
It’s a case by case basis and firm by firm basis for sure. I’m about to turn 66 in two weeks and gainfully employed in risk/credit in banking.
Pro
That’s really encouraging to hear. It shows how much it can vary by firm and situation.

I was the 26 year old who became a director. And I’m much older now.
I’ve always been the one to prove I can do the current work and dabbling in the next level work.
Personally, if you are networking, mentoring, learning something new, and willing to try even with past experience, I would hope that you wouldn’t be blocked.
Pro
That’s such a great perspective, and inspiring to hear your journey from director at 26 to where you are now!
