UK attorney moving to the UK: how much money do you need to make to be able to live well in London? I’m on the NY scale but might need to take a pay cut. How much is good non-NYC scale pay for London?

Go work at a US firm. You’ll get NY scale albeit with a bad exchange rate. K&E, Latham, Milbank, Fried Frank, DPW, STB, Akin etc. Many firms (GDC, Weil, V&E, White and Case etc) pay a little below NY. Magic Circle firms start at 100k pounds for NQ. Hope this helps.

I do digital marketing for a PI firm. I want to chat about Yelp. Obviously it’s a platform built for consumers, not for businesses. Naturally, former clients go there to bash or rave about their experience. While I know Yelp’s algorithm, I was wondering if anyone has any advice on pushing the negative reviews down so they’re not the first few that populate? The review replies are specific, detailed, & to the point as to why they’d write it, the outcome of their case, etc. I appreciate any help!

Please let me know soon. Thanks

I'm moving from Scotland to London in September, looking to buy a flat, what are some nice / ok areas within 45 minute commute of Paddington?

Looking around the £300-£350k mark.

Obviously viewing are tricky just now so would prefer to avoid any areas that are overly...stab-y from my search to save some time.

Leaving my (London, big US) firm; HR has sent me various confirmations they are asking me to sign “before my last day”: I haven’t taken any docs, am aware of my regulatory obligations, don’t have any claims against the firm, have returned everything I need to return etc etc etc. This feels like an obvious try-on: the firm isn’t paying me anything to sign, my reg obligations are unaffected by it etc. How do others manage these? Just walk out on last day?

London folk, question for you: do firms and offices in London not recruit candidates directly? I hardly see positions advertised on the websites of these firms but there are vacancies that they seem to recruit for through recruiters. What’s the deal here? Best magic circle firm?

What are peoples opinions on work from home? It seems to be an unpopular opinion but as a junior I despise it. I work 3 feet from my bed, I find the barriers of a phone/email between me and a senior to add a huge amount of stress to my life and I think it’s stunting my career development at my firm because I can’t build relationships as effectively. I’ve never at all had mental health issues before but now am really starting to feel burnt out and anxious most of the time. What do you think?
