Give real life examples of instances when you did handle difficulty and then you could say ... given my experience w that xyz scenario I would use similar tactic to address this xyz scenario
This should have been a fairly easy question to answer. Set the tone “Managing stakeholder relationships is an important part of my role — sometimes that includes working with different personality types and while not an everyday occurrence, conflict can and does arise. I’ve learned that most conflict involves some level of communication breakdown so the first thing I like to do is make sure I understand their concern by asking probing questions, find common ground and get back to a place where the communication is effective and rapport is built . As an example, when I worked at XYZ (add scenario and end with a happy resolution)”.
I don't try to answer the hypothetical directly. I just say something like "it depends, but here's a situation I dealt with" and talk through a real example. You're not making stuff up because it actually happened, and you don't sound rehearsed because you're just telling a story.
You supply the context. I would say that you can give some slightly different approaches, but do not try to outline every situation possible. Stick with consistency.
Yep, like others said, you create the scenario and make yourself look very good
If you have had to deal with a difficult person, how did you deal with the person? Use examples that you have experienced.
If they mention a scenario, it might be one that you have not encountered before.
But many people have had to deal with a difficult person at least once or twice in their life, unless they have been living under a rock or trying to avoid people or difficult situations.
