I've jumped around every year and a half - two years over the last five years for legitimate reasons. Just reluctantly joined a new firm a couple of months ago because my previous firm was trying to silo me into a practice I had no interest in since one of the primary associates in the group left earlier in the year.

Now a job I'm actually interested in has popped up. Do I go for it or am I stuck at my current place for a few years since job hopping was already seemingly a concern last search?

Appreciate the input y'all. I should make them count me out instead of doing it myself. Those job hopper critiques really got to me last year

like

Yeah you obviously have to go for the dream job, but this is exactly why you don't job hop so that when the dream job comes along you don't have this impediment. The grass is not always greener. Let's hope this is actually the dream job and not just another job you find out you don't like in a few months.

like

Go for it.

Is this actually a dream job or just a job that sounds comparatively better?

Like if this is a job you've been waiting years to apply for, then yeah, shoot your shot with the understanding that the job hopping may hurt your chances. But if it's the latter, I wouldn't do it in your position. Instead, you should plan to spend at least two years at your current place, even if it's not optimal, while you figure out the best path to your actual dream job. Don't keep hopping like this for incremental improvements

Go for it if it is the dream job!

Go for it but be upfront and candid about it like you did here.

How are 1st year litigation associates dealing with WFH? I’ve been having terrible anxiety/panic attacks, and pretty sure my billables wont exceed 110 for April.
