I've never really messed around with the radio settings before (Motorola XTS 5000R), until today. I decided to play with it while I was at home and came across the scan option. We have 6 different districts in my county so I typically just listen to the one I'm assigned to and rarely switch between channels. I run a 12-hour shift without getting the low battery "Chirp Chirp", when I turned on the scan today I got maybe 2 hours. Does putting the radio to scan really use that much more battery?
