How did you decide what field of law enforcement you wanted to be in?

I am a lawyer, and I always saw myself as a criminal lawyer, now I dedicate myself mainly to divorces; I spent time working in the criminal area, and I am from San Francisco; it is a very murky world for me, not always what you want is the right thing for your future.

As a policeman I always wanted to be a detective, my father was, my uncles too, now I'm competing to be a detective, can you wish me luck?

I think I always wanted to be a patrolman, one day I saw a movie called training day, which talks about the first day of an honest police officer in the streets, although it seems crazy that movie motivated me to be a patrolman and to try to fix the streets of the most honest way possible.

I have always wanted to be a federal judge, I am a prosecutor's attorney and apparently, I have a good future; many colleagues and bosses have praised my work, and many have told me that I aspire high thanks to my successes; I hope to continue on my path and become a federal judge.

I have always wanted to be a prosecutor, I work as a lawyer in the child protection sector, I would love to be a prosecutor and help minors even more with family problems of which they are not guilty.

I always wanted to be a Wichita police sergeant, and I have achieved it, I became a sergeant eight years ago, and they have offered me promotions. Still, I wanted to get this far I feel that I have completed my goal and can always share it with my family; I love what I do,. Even if it seems that I have no ambition, my ambition is my peace of mind and ability to share with my family every day of my life.

I come from a long line of cops, it was kind of ingrained into my brain that I should go into law enforcement to become an officer. I didn't really choose it, but I also can't complain.

I'm entering my final year of law school but am going part time since I work full time as a paralegal. I have been a paralegal for more 10+ years and I want to open my own firm after I pass the bar.

I've worked at a lot of different size firms including a startup with a few attorneys and I was able to help with a lot of the ground work with getting the practice management system in place and still do some of that now at my current firm. Has anyone done this right out of law school? Any advice?

What do you think about switching tech stacks vs becoming an expert in one stack? I am a backend Java engineer, and have solely used Java since I've started my software engineering career about 2 years ago. I don't know whether I should explore other tech stacks while I'm young, or instead focus on becoming a Java expert, given that I enjoy working in Java.

Let's say I can't get a product or marketing job in tech, but I could get in via sales or customer success. Does working in those roles pigeonhole you, or is it easy to switch later?
