Toronto ad fish 🤠 I’ve spent most of my career working as a copywriter in London (6 years here, 2 years Toronto) and the market is pretty different here. I’m planning on moving back home but wondered….how do you find work in Toronto? Agencies barely post openings, is the recruiter scene strong? Is it mostly who you know?

Personally, Rethink’s agency hamster felt the freshest. The least self absorbed and didn’t indulge in any industry navel-gazing. Personally I think the videos and MC’s need to go, it’s a wildly corny night.

Zulu video had over the top corny performances like usual and and I was confused - was the dude in jail because he did the tuff turban and fire hydrant splash spot case videos ?

Woah woah woah, WYM? The Barrie Harley Davidson dealership sales were in a slump so they reached out to Zulu asking for an innovative idea to help attract more customers in time for labour day.

Call me crazy and a snowflake but I thought the pink ponies one was terrible. Maybe I’m over thinking it but thought it being a jab to something that is all about inclusivity and poorly done. Wasn’t even funny. I know clients are now more psychotic about making ads that are multicultural and inclusive to a point of washing things up but that video was just dumb.
I loved rethink, diamond, and Zulu. BHLA was weird but memorable. McCann was hilarious too.

I liked the message of the video but I’d imagine at least half if not more of the ppl in the room didn’t know what pink ponies was.
For clarity when I was referring to Pink Ponies I meant the original John St Pink Ponies, not whatever that was with AI of melting horses…

If you are shortlisted for creative agency of the year you have to submit a video. Originally this was a sizzle reel but it quickly became an expression of the agency’s creativity about themselves and the industry. Without these videos the agency of the year night would be a very serious affair with award winners feeling like they are Oscar worthy IMHO.
