I burn the bridge because I don't care need/speak/or see those people again. Light the match and walk away without looking back. Build a strong network of people you trust and you can afford to let others go.
Agreed. Light the way with the fire from burned bridges.
Have to have a spine sometimes. Happy to burn a bridge with a jag off that I would never want to deal with again
On multiple occasions, people who have left and/or been let go from my firm have ended up back with us again via merger. Some have been pleasant returns....others have not been. I don't believe in burning bridges. Walking way respectfully is okay. Choosing another bridge is fine. But burning one is usually unnecessary.
I tend to agree, especially so if you spend your career in particular industries. My father spent his career in pharma and always reinforced this to me - “never disrespect someone at any level, you might find yourself working for them someday.”
All the time in our small city. Never burn a bridge if you can avoid it
Unintended consequences of bridge burning have always been my biggest concern. You are rarely just doing it to that company or that one awful manager. Truly never know who you’ll run into and under what circumstances. Only once had an encounter like that, but not under bad terms.
