It depends on how hard it is to replace you. But just ask for more.
I think salary negotiation is our responsibility. The nature of businesses is that they try to get more for less. I would go to HR and request for a salary increase at first without telling them about what you found out.
I'd suggest you start interviewing and get at least 1 offer for what you'd require your current company to offer you. (Or make up an offer; they won't know!) Most importantly, you need to be prepared to quit after you ask them for a raise, as most requests are denied; especially if you've been there for a while. Companies know most people are afraid to quit. #EmbraceYourInnerMillennial
Ugh, So sorry to hear that. I would get other offers in hand and then use them as leverage for a pay raise. Or leave!
