Let’s talk about “high performers” being used as an excuse to overwork people. I’ve been told I’m a rock and the most reliable person on the team, but instead of being rewarded, I get the hardest clients, the tightest deadlines, and the least amount of support. Last quarter, I handled 42% more accounts than my peers… and got no raise, no title change, nothing. Is there a point in being dependable or going above and beyond anymore?

This is an unfortunately common pattern. Being a top performer should lead to recognition and support, not burnout. It may be time to start documenting your wins and advocating for what your work is actually worth.

I’m in the exact same position where because I do my job better than someone else on my team I get given the tricky projects (and a lot more of them)
