I got the most interview traction from recruiter outreach on LinkedIn after updating my profile, but most were from start ups. So I’d start there if you haven’t already.
My eventual offer came from networking with MBA alums. The McK alumni community wasn’t very helpful to me but I know others have had different experiences. The key is to get them to connect you with folks on the team that you can speak to vs just an online referral.
It’s a tough market but hang in there. You’ll eventually find something that’s right for you.
Its a tough market. Be patient. And a few months break is not a big deal -- you should just say you needed a career break.
What happened at the new gig that lasted 2 months? did they misrepresent the position to you? Did the role not match your expectations? Please tell us what to look out for/ avoid.
Oh wow. Terrible situation, but good you were able to leave than be stuck in a toxic situation.
That’s a tough situation, sorry to hear OP. You can easily skip the short gig and just call it a sabbatical. What was your pre-MBA experience? Maybe that can open some doors for you. Also, if you are NA based, there’s a bunch of roles opening up in alumni job portal. Have you looked at it? All the best!
Thank you. My pre MBA experience was human resources and CPG. I'm not keen on going back to HR. The postings have not worked out for me so far but I will keep trying
Thank you for your kind words. I did get a job. It was helpful to hear from you all.
Another MBB - took 9 months in total. Had 12-15 coffee chats, got one referral, interviewed 3-4 rounds. Got an offer.
Got referrals for other consulting firms too via coffee chat. Only 2 turned into interview calls rest didn't materialize via referrals. Cold applications also had 1-2 interview converts but the ratio was astronomically small. So be aware.
Congrats!!
