Anyone from Toronto ?
I'm serving notice period in TCS and my last day is in 2 weeks. I requested for pickup of laptop in the portal but I came to know that it will take time for pickup and I won't be available if they come late. So I decided to go to office and surrender the laptop as I'm in the location of office only. Is there a seperate request to be raised for surrender of laptop and how to cancel the existing request for pickup. Please guide.Tata Consultancy

Remember this - any promotion should mean less doing and more thinking and decision-making. If it’s just more work, it’s not advancement.
I think wait to hear opportunity, expectations and hopefully increased comp that should come with the role. Be prepared to ask a lot of questions about his expectations and what success looks like, how it differs from current role etc... you don’t have to give an answer on the spot. Hear him out and if there are specifics about the role that you don’t think you can take on, think about whether there’s another creative solution via delegation or new way of working that might allow you to make the role work for you.
If you’re 100% sure you can’t or don’t want the role then I recommend just being honest that you can’t take this on at this point but also articulate what you see you’re next 1-3 years at the company looking like and how you can bring the most value. This will show you’re still committed in your role and set expectations for the ultimate trajectory you want.
In the meantime, kudos to you for killing it in some really tough times with a little one at home.
Thank you so much- this is really helpful! Agree it’s really important to demonstrate commitment. I’m also slightly worried this is indicative of tough times meaning people are doing more for less and perhaps it’s a bit less voluntary than it might appear...
