I'm in a tough spot, love my job here and made it to manager really quickly but feel guilty and miss my aged parents back home in India. I am not happy leaving the states and not happy staying here. .

Got an offer from McKinsey in Mumbai with a pretty nice salary. Thought there is no way I would be accepted and I would go in a heart beat if I did. Guess fate called my bluff :( can't focus on work because I need to make a decision :(

like

As someone who has worked for McK in India, McK in the US, and BCG in the US -- do it. MBB is pretty good when it comes to mobility across countries, and McK Mumbai is a nice bunch! :)

My best man went back to India after studies and consulting here, got an offer from McK, turned it down to focus on VC. He's making waves there. US experience will stand you in good stead and India is a growth market

McK will open doors. Do it! Make more decisions in the future. #life

They can't relocate here anytime soon since I don't have a green card yet. This is starting to drive me insane, should probably take PTO and go on a mountain LOL

Go. This is a good offer and spending time with your parents is irreplaceable. I am sure with your skills you can come back stateside no matter which idiot is in the Oval Office.

Since you are "wealthy", you can come holiday in the US anytime you like. Do what your heart and conscious are asking you to do. Also India is not really a shit hole, it is perhaps the place where you spent the majority of your life.

What salary is McK offering you?

Thanks guys, posts helped. I'm going to sit over this for a day or two and make sure I don't have any regrets but I guess imma take it!

like

Would your parents relocate here?

Take it.

What's harder is I come from a wealthy family so it's not like I'm sacrificing on the standard of living. But NY is my home :( based on comments thus far this won't be that bad a move I guess.

My parents were abroad and passed away. Depends on your financial situation and prospects in India.

I stayed because I was close to getting my green card. But getting a job and being promoted in the US is getting harder and harder.

What do you all do to make non-professional / personal connections? Particularly with the Coronavirus, and being in domestic relations, I wake up, go to work, work out, go home. So outside of law, my interactions with people are only at the gym given that my area is draining— particularly at the moment. Probably a good thing for now; but if we take coronavirus out of the equation, I’m interested what others in the community do to develop personal connections.

Hi everyone, first timer here. Having some issues w. our 4 yo being pushed around and bullied at preschool. He’s really sad and upset. He’s also super shy & introvert. Any advise? Pep talk? Discuss with teacher?

I have been teaching K for 5 years, but have been in early childhood education teaching preschool and first grade for 20 years. I am seeing such a change in the way my students are coming into school now and it is not a good change. My kiddos lack fine motor, gross motor, and basic language skills. They lack self control and emotion management. They are not ready to learn. They don’t even know how to sit down and eat snack at their tables! For the first time ever, I have students who have never

This is a little random but I’ve gotten some peace from this community and I wonder if others share the same struggle. Does anyone else take care of mentally ill parents? I have one at home and some days are harder than others. I struggle to maintain confidence when all I’m hearing is terrible things about myself from someone who isn’t in their right mind. Don’t get me wrong, I’m an adult woman who is proud of my accomplishments, but some days are just hard to shake. Any advice?

My partner of 5 years ended our relationship last night. I’m shattered and feel absolutely sick, and I know the healing isn’t going to be easy. We were on the verge of an engagement and I was ready to spend the rest of my life with him.

I don’t know how to approach work during this time. I think I can get by, but I’m definitely not 100%. Should I talk to my boss about it? My team is close-knit and comfortable around each other, but I don’t know if it’s “appropriate.” What would you do?

I have a student who only comes to school two days a week and then only for 1 hour. He tells me I have to pass him so it doesn't matter. This is very frustrating. I knew this student hates school and often states he is stupid. I just do my best to encourage him. Build confidence. Any ideas to encourage him more? By the way, taking to his parent does nothing.
