Made up current workplace, as I don’t want to dox myself. Additional context, I live in the UK.

The issue. I’m a fd and recently joined a company. During my notice period at my previous company (3 month notice, late on) it became apparent that the opportunity I taking was materially different from the role outlined.

For example, the team I was inheriting. They decided to make 2 people redundant in the period between accepting the role and joining, to rehire the roles in India.

Part 2: They disclosed this 3 weeks before I joined during a pre-joining catch up.

They told me I would be entitled to a pay rise and a prorata bonus for the financial year but have dialled back on that as being budget dependent.

I knowingly joined as a number 2 but that there would be a 3-6month transition plan as the current number 1 in the team was going to be moving on to something else internally. Turns out that didn’t pan out and so I will be number 2 longer than anticipated.

Immediately on joining. I was told to identify further job shifts to India from the existing UK team.

As I have been in the current role less than 2 months my CV hasn’t been updated nor my LinkedIn. And I got some bites on a job application I submitted before I joined my current job (submitted when on my notice period at previous employer and when I started learning of some of misleads).

This has now advanced to a final round (just completed) but I haven’t told them thus far, that I am no longer working at my previous employer. Advice I received from an associate that works a fairly senior position in HR was told hold my nerve as this process might come to nothing and disclose towards the end and the reasons.

It is now between myself and one other person. As I am within my probationary period, I could leave in one month compared to the other candidate who’d be able to join after3 months (I guess an advantage). But more to the point, when is the right time to disclose? Now, that it is final stages? if and when an offer is extended?

I’m not a serial job hopper, I’ve worked at 3 companies in 18 years but I feel I was materially misled with the company I joined, hence I started looking before I even joined.

Help and advice would be really appreciated.

Hello! Looking at an opportunity with established startup in UK that's just been acquired by a large co. I'm US based and my salary is around $250k (NYC) -I've been asked my expectation without the startup giving me a range to work from (though I've asked). I'm not sure how to reply to them because I have a feeling that my requirement may be out of their range and while I don't want to undercut my value, I also don't want to be cut out of the process because it's an interesting co. Any advice?

Hello Fishes,

I am a 2022 MBA graduate working at Deloitte as a consultant. I am a part of their internal strategy team (non client facing role). I have a prior workex as a software developer and I am looking to make a move to Product Management.

I want to understand few things
1. How difficult is it to move to a PM role with no workex?
2. I am getting paid decently here, does PM jobs also pay highly (I am expecting a CTC of ~25-27LPA)
3. How to prepare for the interviews?

Please do not show to client before Partner review!

How does one go about resignation in the remote setting?

Should i email my boss then follow up with a call? Or the other way around?

The "confrontation" is really difficult for me lol. I actually like my current boss and she's been helpful and made me feel like she looks out for me too. But the new opportunity is too good to pass up on (huge increase to pay. No concerns on the team since ive worked with those people in the past in a different company)
