No, I'm staying because - to date - I don't have any other option. Changing companies is only marginally riskier than staying put, if it's even riskier at all. Yeah, "first in, first out" might hold true if layoffs hit the new company, but there's nothing guaranteeing they won't at your current employer or that your loyalty will be valued if they do. I feel like most people are staying put because like me, none of their applications are being responded to.

I get that. Hopefully when things open up your current position gives you the ability to take your time to do what you want.
Similar to Marketing Manager mentioned. I feel like I have outgrown my current role and it is "safe" but we've had cuts on my team the past year. So I'm always looking and applying, but nothing has availed itself until recently. In my third round of interviews so we'll see what happens.

Knowing cuts are coming is never easy. Proactively looking as helped me bounce back faster than my colleagues.
I am staying because I do overall like the work and the company. I wouldn’t turn down an excellent offer if one came my way, though. And nobody ever should if the excuse is being comfortable.

Your not alone. It’s Sunday night as I’m writing this and I’m not getting worked up over going to work Monday. It wasn’t always that way. I feel blessed to say I like my job.
I was laid off from Big 4 and have been on the hunt. I am going back to Big Law which I didn’t want to do. However it pays stupidly well. I’ve done worse for less money so barring any catastrophes I hope to stay there until I retire in 12 years. I do recommend finding a niche because my previous experience was definitely the draw for my new employer.
After failing to achieve a promotion, despite actually doing the role for 6 months, I decided to go because staying was damaging my confidence so much.
