Got recruited by a head hunter for a big salaried CD agency position. I fit Job description. Head hunter sent 6 candidates (including me); in her opinion she thought all 6 were shoe-ins for interviews. All had stellar resumes, portfolios, and matched job description. Agency declined all candidates, “because none big agency/brand experience...” Head hunter was shocked that ALL high quality candidates were passed on.

This a normal thing or possibly a difficult agency?

Do T2 consulting firms (think Kearney, OW) and MBB hire experienced professionals WITHOUT MBA (I.e., is a prestigious MBA mandatory in the region?). I already have a post-MBA position

For those who work in Agencies, how do you accurately identify the work capacity of your Account Management team? I’m currently comparing against account billable/number of accounts, however, there are still discrepancies. I layer on time tracking, but smaller billable accounts will sometimes be just as demanding as larger billable accounts which create profitability issues.

What’s the average hourly freelance rate for digital art directors with 3 years of experience in NYC?

I’m currently in a lease admin type role, in commercial real estate. I make a base salary of $50.5K with about $9k in bonuses. I’ve continuously received 7-10% raises over the last 3 years. I anticipate getting a promotion this year and would like to get closer to $60k for my base salary. I’m the only person in my role at the company and have been a key person in developing our team as we look to expand. Is this unreasonable? Is there a normal increase given with promotions? Just became an ACD. Im in a limbo. Half of the time im being treated as a Super Senior AD and the other half im being treated as a Almost CD. Then when im scoped over work that my CD and I oversee, some people are asking me how does my role differ from the CD’s, as they tend to look at me as an unnecessary layer for approvals. In a way, i do the job so well that i get asked to do more AD projs and guide more projs — but then: wtf does my CD do? They mostly just 👍🏻what i direct n approve
