Bain & Company I’m a PhD student looking to start in consulting and am looking to connect with other PhD/ADP consultants that went into consulting to learn more about the experience and how to prep for case interviews coming from a non-business background. Especially looking for advice on McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, and Bain & Company

I agree with all of your statements. Deloitte’s talent experience is by far the worst I have been apart of. However this year I played the “game” and received EEE and a promotion to M. My performance was the same as last year except I switched to a coach who has a great reputation and basically worked like 60hours a week. I don’t think I can go through another talent cycle here, so I am planning to leave soon.
Congrats on the promotion and winning the game. Good luck with your next gig
What were your ratings?
To add my loops are bright Deloitte green… apparently that matters not
Can relate. They don’t care.
My client rating was downgraded in the panel so that it is not consistent with my snapshots or what my coach submitted. I killed myself for a project, was reviewed accordingly, and then someone decided to downgrade me so my reward would be mediocre. Extremely depressing and certainly not the #1 Talent Experience.
This right here is why people quiet quit.

I was an EH, but came from another B4. Before that 15 years in industry. Can say all of consulting B4 is the same. Very much of a “you own your own future” and not “we will guide and mentor” - eg most SMs only give actionable feedback when pressed by staff even though in a perfect world they should be offering it freely, etc. I had a rough first year when I came into B4 consulting but it is very much a “you and you alone control your future and either you figure it out or you get out or get put out”.
Once you level set with that, I do think the Deloitte talent experience is by far better than other firms in our industry having been somewhere else…
Similar experience, there’s no explanation or justification in most cases. My issues has always been the lack of consistency. There’s a sense of a moving target and all rating are subjective to too many factors and people rather than individual performance. It’s not clear how items are weighed and there are preferences that play a part.
