Would you be coming to commercial or GPS, and from what geo? Geo matters bc it can make your experience more or less relevant. That being said, coming in as an M3 and therefore 6-18 months from promo is high expectations for you to quickly build a pipeline to support promo to SM (norm is promoting and end of M3 or end of M4).
Commercial for me. Coming from the Dutch practice.
It depends on a lot of factor including what the member firm partner feedback looks like and how good your interviews go. 175-180 is what I am seeing assuming you did well. Another point is that if you are already with another member firm, the comp negotiations might be limited since they consider it a transfer. As such pay might be a bit lower.
Thanks for the insights! It’s a new insight that transfers may have lower negotiating power. Indeed I have strong recommendation from the lead partner from my original firm, introduced by the partner as “the best” in my domain. Had informal chats with the US partners and they were very keen. Hopefully this means I have a good starting point. Next steps are the formal interviews.
