Hi all,
I joined KPMG around 3 months ago but I am not getting work here. Although, I qualified some project's interview, yet due to some internal reason, they considered someone else, and I again came on bench.
I am unable to figure out what can be done now.
Should I start searching work outside.
(I hardly see any job openings these days)

I have an immediate family member who works at Disney in Burbank as an admin. She is very much a Disney adult and absolutely loves working there. That said, the pay is terrible and she is supplemented in income from family as it’s expensive to live near her work.
Like I said, she’s very happy, but from what I can tell, the hours and culture seem very much “Must Sacrifice for the Mouse” and all the coworkers I’ve met seem to accept poor conditions to work for Disney.
If you really love Disney, it could work for you? Just don’t expect it to be an amazing job.
Thank you for sharing actual helpful advice!
My sibling works there in an office role not as a cast member at the park itself or anything and she deals with misogyny, racism, elitism, sexual harassment and gets paid lower than I’ve ever seen. She’s like you though, a “Disney adult” and she likes it. I visited her at work once and saw how they treated her and have never visited a Disney park again since. Good luck.
She seems to finally be coming around though and I hope she starts looking for something else soon. Maybe you can take her role 🫡

Bless her! I appreciate you sharing her story. It's great information to have! Thank you so much!

How are you gonna confidently say that you're willing to work anywhere for a company before knowing what their culture, WLB, or comp is going to be?
Working at Disney =/= going to Disney world
I don't worship Disney, but how is worshiping that company different than worshiping a sports team or a religious symbol or deity? At what age is it ok to switch?
Truly nothing worse than a Disney Adult ☠️
I don't know, people like you exist.
Heard pay is low because of the exact reason you want to work there. Main offices are outside of Orlando and in CA
Thanks to the both of you!!
So weird on so many levels. Follow your dreams and do you. Typically thou, you would get answers to your questions PRIOR professing your love to work somewhere.
Which is why I'm asking on Fishbowl.
You are setting yourself up for disappointment.
Not if I'm asking for feedback about the company like hundreds of others have done on here regarding other companies. I'm setting myself up to make informed decisions for the future.
Have you worked for the Disney company in your past?
Worked there before. Pay is fine. It’s not tech pay but it’s fine. For admin and entry level it’s eh. And for entry level no relocation. But for mid level and above yes they have paid for relocation.
Culture depends on direct boss- like any big company.
Thanks WarnerMedia1 !!
I used to consult for them in Orlando. Very toxic culture- at least towards the consultants. Everyday felt like walking on eggshells. And mind you, most employees aren’t the brightest which made it so much more difficult.
Not the brightest because the brightest go where they're paid better. 😬

We had them as a client. It was nightmarish.
Mmm hmmm... I am keeping mental note! Thank you kindly!

Really good friend from college worked there as an imagineer. She was a disney superfan- went every year.
At least for her it didnt work out. Significantly underpaid, she felt the workplace culture was very much “sacrifice pay and WLB for the customers.” Ended up cooling her off from her disney hobby and she quit within 2 years
Totally makes sense. Thank you for the insight!

Be as woke as possible or don’t waste your time
Wow.
Wish you the best of luck! I'm debating applying as well as haha.
Did the college program a long time ago and met my wife there. Wasn't in the corp side but loved it nonetheless.
Don't let everyone else's opinion change yours!
Oh it doesn't. I've worked in some of the toughest corporate environments in 8 industries so I'm not easily scared. There are plenty of places "just as bad" as everyone here has written about Disney. Toxic cultures are more common place than some may want to admit.
And thanks for your thoughts. It adds to the decision process!
My best friend's daughter has worked there for several years in a variety of positions, including at the actual park and as a junior graphic designer. The pay is horrible. Culture is cultish and can be toxic. Advancement opportunities range from "very difficult" to "impossible."
I'm picking up what you're putting down. Thank you so much for replying!
A young couple (early 30s) I know both work in the corporate HQ. The wife was a park photographer for a little under a decade iirc before she finally got into the corporate side on the park events team as a coordinator. Her husband came in as an analyst and worked his way up to a nice little Director position in the 7 years he's been there). I doubt they are raking it in, but they're making enough money to travel and own a home (although they bought it several years ago, so take that with a grain of salt in the year 2022!!) and as far as I can tell, they absolutely love working for the mouse. They're adorable and so sweet, so any company would be lucky to have them. When I think of them, I just can't imagine Disney World corporate having toxic culture because they're such kind people. (I can't speak to Disney Land or Disney's TV and film offices, as I don't know anyone who works there.) I could be wrong, and I've never asked them specifically about the culture, but they both seem happy enough. Hope that helps. As for me? I love Disney, too, but I like making tech money more. 😂 (I would not classify myself as a "Disney adult," though. I haven't been to a park since 2015—all the proof needed, right?)
If this is your dream, pursue it!
If it doesn't work as expected, move on.
Work always comes around and you would have had the experience you so adamantly want.

Hours and benefits such as relocation will largely depend on the position. If they were hiring a new controller or CFO I’m sure they would pay for relocation but if there hiring an entry level staff likely not. Hours are also going to depend on department and team just like anywhere else.
This post seems incredibly immature to tie yourself to a single company. If your current company is paying you 80k and Disney offers you 40 for the same position you would take it?
Don't mistaken passion for naivete or experience.
Thanks for the insight! Have you worked for the company?
I worked for the Walt Disney Company for almost 15 years, most recently in Burbank.
I had to work two jobs while there to be able to afford my rent as a VP level assistant.
I finally left because I could not afford to continue working there. So, ultimately I can not recommend it.
Hey, Disney employee here 👋
In my experience, there's definitely a mix of employees that are big Disney fans and work here because of that, and those who just have the job (though this may be because of the area of the company I work in - tech). Many people recognize that the salary could be better, and so we have a lot of turnover. There are offices all over the country! If you take a look at the open positions online, you'll some of the locations.
For any of your other 3 questions, I think it'll really depend on the part of the company you're looking at! I can answer for my role, but, reading some of the other comments, this is not true for everyone.
- Culture is pretty good? Again, depends on your team. My team's culture is not bad by any means, but I have some issues with it, so I am actually starting the job search.
- My work hours are a standard 9-5, with some flexibility, as long as I'm available in the time we overlap with the west coast folks (I'm east coast). We have on-call shifts and events that require me to work outside these hours every couple months.
- My relocation was paid for, as an entry-level employee.
Hope this helps, and best of luck if you do end up applying! But like other comments have said, really talk to people in the teams you're applying for to figure out if this is right for you. Don't take a job you'll hate just because "it's Disney"!
How about New York? Their offices are in Manhattan. No one drives around here.
Plus, the snow's kind of cool to look at when you don't have to worry about shoveling it or driving in it
... also I was assuming you were looking for something tech-related because you did mention FAANG in your post
