I’m working maintenance right now for a hotel. Bosses aren’t around hounding me all the time. Most productive I’ve ever felt working a 9-5
I totally agree. Happened to me so I bid off my machine smh. It’s so annoying!!!
I do not micromanage. I was basically told I needed to by the direction I was given. I have always taken the attitude if I cannot trust you to do your job then why are you here? I refuse because it is stupid. The employees deserve autonomy to make some decisions. They deserve to be trusted till proven otherwise. They deserve to be a part of decisions made if possible letting them own the processes. If I’m wrong in my thinking then I should not be a manager. So be it.
They do it because they know deep down despite their lofty title they aren't really contributing much value to the company and it satisfies their need to feel important.
But most lack the skills or drive to program that new part for the job they agreed to take last minute, run a machine when there's a staff shortage, or even help chase threads, deburr, clean, and package parts so they get out the door on time or god forbid early.
I regret that during my time as a Manufacturing Planner I never learned how to run a machine, but I lent a hand to deburr, QA, Assembly, and Shipping/Receiving when ever I could.
It sucks and can be tough to tolerate, but try to feel some pride for doing what they can't or won't.
I praise your efforts even the lack of knowledge... unlike the previous lead we had(ironically just got fired lol) had zero experience in machining and management.
He would rather walk around write notes and stand behind you like a creepy person with his arms crossed... doesn't even contribute while the shop is months behind
You know what? It is especially worse if you’re working as a pharmacy technician in a facility that’s a NYS facility.
