I think this incident combined with the MANY stories of Boeing malfunctions is definitely making me more nervous to fly anywhere. I've never been anxious about air travel until the last year or two (especially with what came out from the Boeing whistleblowers)
I completely understand. I’m not very familiar with the malfunction incidents you mentioned regarding Boeing, but now I’m curious and need to look them up!
Sure, it's something to think about. We've been spoiled, the aviation system has been pretty safe, and the tragedy in DC is the first major crash in the US in more than 15 years. So a lot of us have never flown with those thoughts in mind. Now, with all the talk of cutting the government in half and the FAA being purged last week, you can't help but be concerned.
Agreed. I’m not at the point of cutting back on business travel, but the incident has definitely made me more cautious about safety and more interested in understanding the relevant requirements and protocols.
No. This incident was horrific and traffic, but commercial flights continue to be incredibly safe. Emotionally, the crash is a lot to process. Logically, flying is still safer than driving, so I’m not going to rethink my travel schedule.
I hear you, and I admire your logical approach. I wish I could be as clear-headed—it’s hard not to feel affected emotionally, even knowing how safe flying is.
