What’s the saying about LA? Over 500 neighborhoods in search of a personality.
Also people in LA are nice but not kind and people from NYC are kind but not nice.
Yes and I moved back to NY. La is very boring and you spend most of your free time in the car.

I feel you. Honestly, LA is more a loose collection of neighborhoods than a true city the way NYC is. If you love New York for what makes cities great (density, walkability, easy access to tons of top tier amenities, transit, etc), LA really pales in comparison. I am a little jealous of the LA weather though.
NYC is a better city than LA, but LA has much better weather. Orange County and San Diego are some of the best places to live in the world if you can get out of LA proper. Miami is another burgeoning big law scene in an excellent city. Sleeper big law cities are Denver, Salt Lake City and Charlotte.
Never lived in NYC but I love LA. Where do you live in the city? Makes a huge difference for QoL.
I’m a big fan of Silver Lake / Los Feliz / Echo Park for proximity to parks and a great restaurant scene. Fairfax/La Brea area for more of a city feel. Pasadena / South Pasadena if you’re looking suburbs. Obviously Santa Monica or beach cities if that’s your speed.
As another commenter said, it’s really a city of cities, and there’s some work involved in figuring out which neighborhood aligns with what you’re looking for (and still involves a tolerable commute) but once you do, it’s a great place to live.
Driving is going to be a given no matter what, though.
Went to law school in nyc but am in Orange County now. If you can make the commute work, then move to OC. I tend to wfh for the most part.
