I think everyone should be trying to take some sort of notes, even if you’re leading — at least jot down what you can. Then you can compare notes after the call to make sure as a group you have a full set of notes / didn’t miss anything

You need to confer ahead of time. Don’t rely an unwritten rules, I would’ve made sure that the mid-level knew she should have taken those since you were leading the call.

If there are any summers left grab one and make them do it next time lmao

Always take your own notes regardless (and I’d also ask someone else to if you’re planning to lead to make sure you don’t miss stuff, but that should be for filling in gaps, not your primary notes imo).
I watched this play out live and the senior manager legit said “I take notes even when I’m presenting” - next call asked for their notes to compile and suddenly there are no notes!

You would never ask a partner for their notes even if you were speaking. The most junior person should always take notes, but so should everyone else. No matter who is leading.

I ask partners for their notes all the time, even when I’m lead note taker. They never cared and sometimes would have interesting strategy cues in their notes. Was never an issue for me.
