My boss + boss’ boss (2 senior partners) have an idea and want to start our own thing and want me to be part of it, but honestly don’t have a ton of savings right now. I believe in the idea, see how I truly fit into it, and am willing to leave but scared financially.

Any advice?

Senior partners have already secured customer contracts? If yes , then there is zero risk .

If you don’t have kids go for it if you get an equity stake. Kids require a little more thought.

What D1 said. At this point, it's probably worth the risk, especially if no kids and healthy. Ensure you can return though if it doesn't work out.

You only live once OP. They both clearly have a very high opinion of you and so I’m sure you’ll find options if it doesn’t work out. Just ensure you’re very clear on when earnings should start and what they will be (ie what’s the deal). If they are senior people who’ve been around a while, then you might broach them floating you some money short term, given their financial position likely is stronger than yours.

Explain that you'd like to be part of the venture but want to have a safety net and would need to have a signing offer and formalize the path forward.

Have an attorney review your paperwork to make sure they aren’t setting you up to lose later. I’m sure they aren’t and all will be on the up and up, but don’t try to skip getting it reviewed

Has anyone signed a contract to work for X amount of years with the government and then broken that contract? Are there repercussions? The contract was two sentences that said I would work for X years. That’s it. I cannot find any information online about what happens if you hate your new job so much that you quit. Anyone?

Hello Fishes, Can someone confirm what should be the grade and designation in HCL for around 17 years of experience?

Is it true Deloitte is not sponsoring H1B visas? I have a friend considering joining as an SC after MBA. However, they are concerned that Deloitte is not sponsoring. Are these fears correct? How does this work from a recruiting perspective? They would be hired as an off-cycle campus hire via PPMD referral, not within the standard pool of campus hires. Thanks!

Is there any mandatory working hours constraint in sg? Like in CTS we have to be logging hours for atleast 9 hours?

Over the past year, my counsel is constantly judged by a select few senior business folks (eg arguing over FTC compliance, IP risk counsel, and even simple things regarding NDAs that any attorney wouldn’t question. It’s very frustrating that my own team is the one I have to defend my logic to (and not opposing counsel). It feels like they want a rubber stamper, which is not me.I never faced this at my prior in-house roles (probably because they were much a larger). Any advice on how to handle?
