My company doesn't really care about cloud certifications, but I'm considering going for an AWS one anyway. My manager told me it’s not necessary for my current role, so I’d be footing the bill and studying on my own time. Does it help your career later on if you get certified even when your boss didn't care? I don't want to waste months of study for zero payoff.

You’ll have to ask yourself if it makes sense for your goals. Certifications aren’t a replacement for experience, but they can help you get in the door if you are looking at something that requires/benefits from them.

I don't know that I would recommend doing that unless you have a specific reason for doing so. It would likely be a waste of money if you don't need it for your current role.

If it helps you be more well versed in designing systems, why not? I saw go for it!

Yeah, I think it can be worth it, even if your manager doesn’t care right now. Certifications like AWS aren’t always useful for your current job, but they’re more like an investment for future opportunities.

For example, if you ever want to switch companies, move into cloud roles, or work on more modern systems, having an AWS cert can make your profile stronger and help you stand out.

Hello Guys,
Need small advice,
I had my LWD on 27th june ,before a week of that i had HSbC last round in which I clearly told I wanted to join by 4th july as my next joining is due at that time.
HR agreed and told will fast track your bgv .
Now the problem is they released offer for 11thJuly saying will preponed in case bgv finished early.
Today I again got a mail for 18th july extension.

Am quite worried here now, as I already said no to other companies !should I try looking again.

H1-B transfer question

I recently accepted an offer to join a company (A) . They started my H1-B transfer and I received today the approval notice for the transfer.

However, I accepted last week a (better) offer at another company (B) and they will start soon my H1-B transfer.

I attend to tell company (A) on Monday that I will not be joining them. Will there be any issue with company B filing for a H1-B transfer soon?

I am trying to figure out how to switch to SWE. I have a masters in civil engineering and have a good background in higher level math. It looks like the better coding boot camps are quite expensive. The alternative is another masters in CS which is the same cost as many boot camps. Any recommendations on picking between a coding boot camp and getting another masters degree in CS? I’m looking to get into the best position possible after getting an education in CS (get a job quick and good pay).

What should I reasonably expect from a junior?

I manage a junior developer that's been with the company for about 18 months. I end up providing them of TON of support. I need to give them extremely detailed instructions or they fail. For bugs, I need to point them to a specific function that's causing the bug. For new features, I'm basically writing their method signatures and defining their test cases.

I've tried asking them to do more on their own, but when I do, they fail spectacularly.
