My contract ends in March 2026 and I was wondering when would be a good time to start searching for jobs again? I'm not sure if my current workplace will give me an extension, and I need to take 1-2 weeks off at the end of February and I was just wondering when this would be a conversation I should have with my employer. Should I do it ASAP or should I wait a little bit more?

We have motion sensor lights in my office and the sensor is far from my desk. Consequently, if I'm on a long WebEx, the lights go out and it's embarrassing. The building won't change the sensor. Admins. Midwest region. Tax, audit or overall office admin. Salary range? Highest comp percentage increase you’ve seen in your role? I’ve been in my position 15 years & go above & beyond for anyone in our office. But my salary doesn’t reflect my knowledge, experience or work ethic IMO.

Has anyone else had a mentor (assigned to them by the Company) who seemed to have it out for you? I mean downright sabotage to make you look bad left and right. I didn’t realize it at first. She was fake friendly, but she was discrete too. Some of the executives thought she was amazing, but I had to clean up her work all the time. She wasn’t above me either on the chain of command. Later I found out she had tried for the exec assistant role and they didn’t choose her, they wanted me instead.

How do you manage your money?

I only bring in a little over $2,600 a month. After paying all my expenses, I get to put away $500 a month in savings but don’t have much wiggle room for anything else, including going out money.

I’m very privileged to have a significant inheritance and zero debt of any kind. I really wonder how my peers who have student loans, car payments, and even children manage to pay their bills and live so comfortably. Please share if this is you!
