NonDailyUse Certs help or hurt in interview?
When one works daily on a tech X, related certifications make sense. However, if a person pass certifications in techs Y, Z that are not used in his daily work, retaining that knowledge over time can be difficult. Say after 1–2 years in an interview, the person cannot answer advanced questions on topics covered in certifications, does it create a negative impression? Basically, do such certifications add value, or can they backfire in interviews?

Lateraled into banking and I'm getting killed. My aso will mention to do stuff as he's walking out, says do this this and this and by the time I process what he said he's out the door then I miss something he's like I told you to do it.
