Be like Nike - just do it. The best way to learn something is to use it/do it. Give yourself an assignment to work in excel that will give you the practice that you need but might also be useful for you. Here is an assignment you might try:
Download all your checking and/or credit card spending from your bank.
Create a column to categorize each transaction if it isn't already done for you by the bank. (Sub assignment - can you figure out a way to make that more automated? You could use another tab and use the "unique" function to give you the names of all the places where you shop and then only categorize the spending once, then on your main page use a lookup to pull that into each transaction)
Once you have the base data - create a pivot table so you can see in table form how much you spend on coffee or on your car
Create a graph so you can see how your spending is changing over time by category.
OK- now you know what you spend. Is your spending reasonable? Set up a budget for yourself and then project forward using inflation and life changes. Remember to save for when you are my age.
Graph that - what will your life look like in 10 years? What happens if you change your savings rate or if the average return is high/low.
When you struggle with your self imposed assignment - google it, ask questions here and then practice in your low risk personal assignment.
Depends what you looking to use excel for, I just learned on the way googling stuff and youtube. Now an expert user and I provide excel coaching online in my spare time.
Ask ChatGPT how to do tasks. It’s super helpful.
Definitely recommend using Chat GPT. I have been using it for soooo many things lately and it really is a lifesaver. It can do basically anything you ask it to which is super helpful.
