Hi fishes,
Any guess how many people are laid off from Publicis sapient in past few days? Really scared for my future as I'm also under probation period and deeply regret for my choice of joining this firm...I don't understand why were they recruiting peeps when they were short of projects. Publicis Sapient

Has to be very practice and region specific. As a company this isn't true. We just had our 2 best years
Bench and booking projections look fine in my NE office. Maybe not stellar (I didn't do detailed benchmark) but nothing alarming
Accenture swallow up of BCG in 3...2....1
It is surprisingly slow at least in my office, but I'd imagine they can handle headcount (if it's even needed) through attrition, there's enough natural turnover

Pretty sure we don't do layoffs, just lack of promotion and less recruiting next year
@D3 - BCG pays partial, depends on what's negotiated.
Counseling outs are happening. Those who express any interest in leaving are not being put through the usual ringer, including some high performers. Secondments (which have tax advantages and take cost out short-term) are being ramped up. There are ways to deal with slowness without layoffs but you are correct that generally business does need to pick up soon.
Are we screwed?
I don't think so. We typically wouldn't respond very tactically if there was a blip in billability
In any case, the way this would pan out is that we'd be more prompt to counsel out the weaker performers (ie, yellow zone) after cdc when we already highly suspect it won't work out
Hiring in Deloitte S&O finance/M&A
Is the jig up??
Depends - when times were good, you could negotiate a better deal. Now expect to take a 1/3 salary hit depending on how much / what opportunity the secondment is and how much that particular org will kick in. Above all it preserves your optionality (and the firms on your talent) though, so that's certainly worth it if it's not all about money for you.
Bullshit
Can't speak for everyone, but bench isn't super deep around me and when I rolled off a couple weeks ago I had like 5 options of cases.
