Who was around in 2008/2009 at big 4? Specifically in advisory? How were those practices affected during the layoffs? Any insight to ease some of the worry/unknown would be greatly appreciated.

Am I being paid competitively? I have been the Onboarding Sup for my HR dept for over a year now and I’m being paid the state min for salary, which for CA is 62,400. I have not gotten a merit raise since the last 2 January’s, the state raises the threshold for salary folks. My company says that was my raise. Is this right? I bring a background from the clinical operations of my company, scheduling, field work, and what the average employee faces. I want to look else where but I’m not sure.

I’m currently working for a small technical consulting start-up firm. I make good money, have great benefits, and they seem very happy with the work I’m doing, so I know I could move up quickly. However, tech consulting is definitely not my dream job. I want to get into data analytics, and I have an offer from a big company to do just that. I’ve only been at my current company for about 8 months, but I don’t ever see myself loving this job. How do I know when it’s time to make a change?

I am booked on a month-long gig at a great agency and another not as good agency just reached out to book me for a three month gig. The agency I am at has said they could possibly extend me and they just put me on a TV campaign that ships mid March But haven’t definitely said they are extending me past the initial month booking. Would it be bad form to say to the agency I am currently at that another agency wants to book me for three months and ask them to book me for two more months

Hi Fishes, I need your advice!

I joined CG 6 months back and was on training for 3-4 months for Dynamics CRM, completing multiple MS certifications. Post that I was mapped to an account for the project & was under shadow.

After shadow completed it seems like there's no project openings in the account for which I was selected. And now management wants me to go for other certs.

Please help me know whom can I approach & ask for project openings/tagging. I'm worried as it's already been 6 months!

Graduating Ph.D. program 2021, received offer from tiny boutique for 140TC+random small boutique benefits. Would be better commute, non metro area closer to home. Waiting to hear back from well known life science boutique (think ZS, Clearview, Putnam). Offer would be for NYC office, would likely relocate.

If offer is given, a) at what $ is this worth and b) is brand everything for first firm out of school?

Also would the life science boutiques reasonably pay more than that?

Any recommendations on seaside towns that would be fun for a 5-6 day stay within an 8 hour drive of Boston? Going next week, so not a place that's a ghost town in October.
