Current salary (same role at a different pubco) is $225k + 20% cash bonus (no equity).

Seems like everyone is day trading, too, which I take as a sign of froth. I know market timing is typically a bad idea, but talk me out of moving to cash for a few weeks until things get cheap(er).

Have interviews set up at FAANG co and getting good signals, for a position that was posted widely (all across US) but not remote. Haven’t broached the subject of location yet. Would you (1) early on clearly state that you’re not open to relocation but that you would be open to visiting a big office once or twice a month; (2) not say anything now and wait to get an offer and ask for an exemption; or (3) something else?

How did current in-house attorneys find their positions? I am currently in big law with 3 years of experience. Seems that most recruiters can only help me lateral to other big law firms.

Hello, hoping for some input on how to time a job change. At a startup - we are doing well now but unless we have complete turnover in management I don’t think we have a bright future post-COVID. I could coast here 1-2 years before having to look. I’ve been here for a little under a year. This is my second in house job after 10 years at the same firm. The market is hot now, probably won’t be in 1-2 years and I am getting interest for good roles. OTOH I don’t want to look like a job hopper.

What’s a fair expectation for my first raise? Publicly traded co with ~2500 employees. I’ve been doing litigation with the company for almost 3 yrs and have only had a 2% cost of living raise so far. Graduated in 2014. Base comp is $127.5k in the Philly area. I see salaries all over the place in this site and it’s hard to tell whether mine is competitive.

I’m in-house at a small company (60 people), started right out of law school about 5 years ago. We had a legal team of 5 then. Everyone has left and we just hired a new GC. I went from $70k to $100k a little over a year ago. I am expecting an offer from a firm doing business law work but think this might be an opportunity to go to my current employer and ask for a significant raise, with new offer in hand. What would be a typical salary for a junior in house counsel role (3 yoe) at a publicly traded company in a secondary market (think Austin, Tampa, Charlotte)? I’m having a really hard time finding what a reasonable range would be. Most positions I’m applying to require desired salary in the application, and the truth is I’d accept anything north of 125k but don’t want to undersell myself and take a bigger cut than necessary coming from biglaw.

When is an appropriate time to send a follow up email after interviewing? Is a week too soon?
