I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

Do NOT be afraid about coming off too “braggy”! This is literally the time to show off your accomplishments. Hopefully you’ve been keeping track throughout the year, and have a list ready. Otherwise make a list. Talk about the accomplishment, what role you played, and (importantly) how that affected the business. Paint a good picture/tell a little story for each accomplishment so your manager knows the real affect it had.
Remember that you can include things that aren’t traditional “accomplishments”. Maybe you investigated and found the root cause of some problem, or came up with an efficient process for doing something. Maybe you’ve really increased your cross-team collaboration and made new connections across the company. Maybe you didn’t meet a specific goal BUT you learned some important lessons and made new discoveries in the process that will now help you with X, Y, and Z. If your team has changed a lot, say you’ve been adaptive and agile and a leader through these changes! That is a quality I would look for in promoting someone.
If you include some areas of opportunity for you to work on or improve, it will show self-awareness. Just don’t frame them as negatives. For instance, don’t say “I’m a weak spot on my team because I’m lacking technical skills.” Say “this year I’m going to level of my knowledge of [specific skill] so that I can lead [specific project] more efficiently”.
I mean, they’re still important things that just need to happen but we have been a super small team (and still kind of are) but we’ve made some hires and other things have changed. In the long-term I think some of the new people will help with some of these smaller things, but it just hasn’t happened yet. I have definitely been a big part of their on boarding, but I don’t think they know what they’re doing / seem overwhelmed to a point I don’t want to pile on them.
CHATGPT baby!!

Don’t overthink and put a positive spin on anything negative.
