Been getting many more interviews and getting farther along the past three months than the past two years. Hoping this starts to be the feeling for more, including you
It’s going to be bad until the Fed begins to ease interest rates and large corporations begin to invest in their marketing budgets again. Corporate America was convinced Fed tightening would force a recession, so they cut way back last year. I’m guessing you’ll see a moderate ad industry recovery in 2025.
This answer I believe is closest to accurate but it leaves out advances in workplace automation and technology. Also, a lot of what I’m seeing is traditional agency roles have/are moving to brand side. A lot of jobs are not coming back.
This is not a brag but more to give hope. Have had a 5-6 interviews at different agencies in the last week that led to a handful of offers.
Honestly just networked my ass off from afar. I’m not in NYC so had a lot of late nights and early morning messaging or having preliminary calls with people I had only dreamt of speaking to. Turns out they weren’t as hard to get in touch with as I’d thought.
I got more success by trolling the networks of people I did know, to connect me with the people I needed to speak to. But some were completely cold messages. Lots of no replies but that’s expected.
It just feels like a lot of places are frozen, they don't know whether to hire and look to the future or keep bracing for some cataclysm. Things have to change eventually, whether because of the FED or because it just hits some capitulation point. I guess the question is when.
Agree. Regional banks need to go out. The government is masking the depths of just how bad it is. I think the us government hires 60k people a month…a month for low paying jobs so they can claim unemployment is low.
Layoffs in NYC today at IPG Health. More people look for fewer jobs.
