Skipping bottle to sippy cup is fine.
We had to try a few different sippy cups to find one that worked. Son ended up liking these ones for milk in morning and evening because he can still lay down and drink from them: https://www.amazon.com/Munchkin-Click-Weighted-Straw-Ounce/dp/B00JQSITMI/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_pp?adgrpid=187237414758&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.-fdCwrTXhAfOBw4Re5uurnGUpNCSNckkmtiXJUFYX56Q79zx11G1ULkmpuINTwaGoOA6xhnfz2urPWELlvwnaaFTP6gyATvwoWc0y8qwaYijT2AZoWY1St76ZwVrMIHc_IoX3ipIFn0mw106L0LoxKjdknhZQUBuxXCechZ1WT8Ea05kplYvhylpFUt_btjpTm9fJ_Ns5YE01UyzGwcFXQ.oxK3DrMrAX72tFpSDlVKSM-E3eEyBbDacdQ-mZmptHo&dib_tag=se&hvadid=792853169455&hvdev=m&hvexpln=0&hvlocphy=9027222&hvnetw=g&hvocijid=10246262723066509463--&hvqmt=e&hvrand=10246262723066509463&hvtargid=kwd-302012948598&hydadcr=25816_13832215_2454610&keywords=munchkin+sippy+cup&mcid=d366c4493bdb3fe09225b0dbaa98f628&qid=1773409137&sr=8-1
Kind of a pain to clean but met our post bottle needs
Another +1 on these. Agreed on the pain to clean, but the straw cleaners help. These were some of the best cups we used with our kids.

My now-grown daughter, never took a bottle. She refused both bottles and binkies. She went straight from nursing to a sippy cup. There were no issues with her development as a result.
Getting her to sleep through the night was hard because she was teething at an accelerated rate. She had mouth pain and excessive drooling during that time. There were many sleepless nights as a result, but we got through it once the teething settled down.
She also never crawled. She would roll on the floor, side to side, then started pulling herself upright using the coffee table and ottoman. That was a problem. Her pediatrician said that kids need to learn to crawl because it helps them with reading later on. We saw a physical therapist who placed large foam shapes on the floor, used like an obstacle course. We got down on the floor and crawled around them with her. It was the oddest thing, but it worked, and she never had any reading issues.
"Experts and studies suggest that crawling plays a significant role in developing the foundational skills necessary for reading. It fosters brain, eye, and muscle coordination. Key benefits include improved bilateral coordination (using both brain hemispheres), visual tracking across a page, and core strength needed for proper posture while reading."
It might actually be beneficial for their oral moral skills to go straight to sippy cup. So congratulations +
It's totally fine to go with a straw cup.
Straw cup or those munchkin cups where they can bite if the have upper teeth are the best. Otherwise standard sippy cups are OK too just one more thing u need to transition out if eventually. Milk bittle right before bed is actually what causes sleep association which eman baby wakes up and cannot go to sleep without bottle again. Best is to give milk with one of the options above and spend 15 min reading story telling etc and then put baby to sleep.
will you be going back to work? or staying home with baby?
I think the main risk in not being able to take a bottle is the demand for your time (what if you are stuck in traffic and baby is hungry, what if you have an accident and are in the hospital, what if your body stops producing). baby may have started eating solids so that helps too.

That’s awesome, we still can’t take my sons morning milk in his bottle away and he’s a little over three years old. You can do a sippy cup at this point.
