My post is for a lot of folks here who complain about managers not budging to negotiations and not offering package ,what you are expecting.I have one thing to say,there are lot of ibm employees who moved to kyndryl. Inspite of lot of contributions they are earning meagre salary.Now do you expect these people to hire you for more package most of time the package you are demanding is more than what these managers draw. So pls do not look at kyndryl as any other startup.Thanks.

If you have 1.5-2M saved through different instruments then you can retire. No need to work in Bharat. If it's less than 0.5 M then you will have to work till you are 60 in Bharat. Cost of living is astronomical now a days. Schooling itself is 30-50 lakhs per kid till 12th. And graduation is another 15-20 lakhs. Kid being American citizen will not get any government seats
More than sustenance, the need is to stay engaged in professional world. Have a long pathway to retirement. I'm good for FIRE number likely, but can't fathom doing nothing, yet

I came back to India in 2021 due to work stress. I only had $600k when I landed here. I thought I should have saved more but I did enjoy a lot during the 13 years in U.S. so I had no regrets. I took a break for 3 months and then decided to start freelancing. Found remote contracts and some friends helped out. First year I made more than my big 4 salary in India. This year I have 8 employees and released an AI tool which is selling quite a bit. We are on track to hit about 450k USD in revenue. So never give up. I am very happy now and work on my own terms. Also my networth is now close to 1.5M USD so I saved much more in 5 years than I saved in 13 years in U.S.

SVP, that’s the harsh reality of buying in major metros in India. Both spouse need to be working with good packages. Like my sister and BIL make over 1 Cr gross/year but still renting cos can’t afford to buy home. Unless u have parental property that’s passed and is used for downpayment it’s really tough to buy home.
