Seeking advice: I am a young sales consultant and sales engineer working for a tech startup company. I have 6 years of sales experience. And I have been helping run my family business for the past 10 years. I was intially interviewed for a senior account executive position at a $70k offer. Instead they told me I needed more training and hired me as a Junior account executive at a $50k salary + commission. Today is my 6th month mark and I have done very well. And no talks of a promotion / raise..

According to an article in LinkedIn new job postings are down for the first time in 9 months but still there over 10 million open jobs with only 5.9 million unemployed workers. Why is it that here I am unemployed over 4 months and still not one offer. Anyone got some positive vibes to send my way it would be appreciated! Is there a definitive guide to cost of living? The obvious cost of living centers (SF, NYC, LA etc.) get covered a lot, but I’m wondering where my city falls. It’s a modest Midwest city with ~100k residents but is a relatively touristy spot. It often feels like a MCOL area but I’m not sure how to adequately judge that, and it would be helpful to know when comparing salaries and the like.
