I in Australia and my brother in Europe were laid off and took more than a year each to find a job despite being probably in the top 5-10 percent of the talent in a crazy-high-demand field. So first of all don't take it personally at all.
We burned through our savings and severance while our partners supported us. If you have any support lean on it.
If the financial condition isn't the reason, don't loose heart by tying your self esteem to your job. The corporate world does not care about experience or ability nor is it loyal to competent people. The world economy is in shambles and every company is dreaming of cheap AI replacements. If you have other skills or will enjoy any other blue collar work go for it to ease the financial pressure and stress.
If you the option to move back to a less expensive country exercise that, although it's not trivial if you have a family.
Most importantly be vocal and seek help. Even go for a crowd sourced support if no other option is there, without any shame.
Vent out and cry but do not let thoughts of self harm near you.

Are you a Australian? - if not atm I would cut my losses. You can always come back, lots have done that. Sadly, its a perfect storm combining economic slowdown, change and global economic situation. If you can, I'd also look elsewhere for opportunities. Other markets have picked up.
Theres few roles in state gov or related. But rare. Its very crazy right now, So please hang on.
But honestly maybe this is a good time to reflect and deal with personal issues you really cant do stuff, if you cant focus. No job or personal situation is worth it, over your life trust me this will pass. Talk to friends and others. Look after your health.
