Great question - are you even allowed to pick stocks in IBD though? Not in my shop

Yes. Up 33% YTD.

ETFs only.

like

Levered ETFs; there's a range of options to bet for/against sectors and geos with amplified returns. Avoids the equity trading restrictions imposed at most banks.

like

We are allowed to trade individual securities with 30 day holding period

like

DO NOT TRADE LEVERED ETFS. As someone who used to trade for a levered etf company, the compounding will kill you so will carry on vol etfs. Want leverage trade futs.

like

How are you trading in a personal account? By the time we get the required approvals to buy/sell, my interest in an individual equity has probably waned.

like

@Moelis1: don't ask don't tell or you guys allowed trading individual securities without holding periods?

Closing on my first home. Advice for anyone with student loans in administrative forbearance per the Cares act: once your offer is accepted have you student loan servicer put your account back in repayment status.

Accounts in forbearance, even administrative forbearance, are calculated at a higher monthly payment by the underwriter.

My fictitious debt to income ratio was too high for them to approve me, and it took seven days for my loan to be officially back in repayment. So just a heads up.

Making a lot of money relative to the average but feeling poor? Median after-tax income was ~$55,000 in 1981 and was ~$73,000 in 2020. Using a Bank of Canada inflation calculator $55,000 in 1981 is equivalent to ~$165,000 today, which would put someone in the top 10% of earners today. But in 1981 the median family had that extra money. Who can I blame?

I’m a new associate to a T&E group, partner goes away on vacation and leaves me with a 706 to review and sign. The family is very wealthy. Decedent married for 60 years. Partner says it’s “just a DSUE election, decedent was ill for years, no assets.” Provides no records. Not even an admission the decedent owned a toothbrush. So I looked up the decedent’s home - it’s a joint asset. Partner was “surprised”, and still insists “no other assets”. I found file references to art and antiques.

Interested in hearing about anyone who has added a second full time staff person. Current setup is two main advisors (have a few licensed solicitors) and one main admin. Getting to the point where she has too much on her plate. We have been bringing on paid interns to alleviate some of the stress. Thinking about adding another person but unsure that we need an additional full time staff person. Recently heard an employee per every 350-400k of GDC (advisors included) was a good guideline.
