Detour or shortcut, my goal is to be in strategy consulting. Is it better to just wait for a couple more years and then go directly into strategy consulting? Are IT DD and ODD experience viewed favourably by strategy consultants?

I received a job offer last week from Alvarez & Marsal to work as a consultant at the Transaction Advisory Department (financial due diligence team), where I will be paid more fairly (salary & bonus). Should I accept it? Or would leaving EY that early not be wise?

Does this mean that the good natured roasting that KPMG Strat gets is just for jokes and in actuality we’re actually well respected professionals? How do you folks describe your deals in resume/ interviews/ LinkedIn while stopping short of naming client/target? If you describe the acquirer and target, it’s pretty easily traced to the exact deal.

Looking to move to London (international move) at the end of next year and wondering if anyone knows of any teams/firms that primarily do ODD work? I believe S& Deals primarily do CDDs and DDV primarily do separations.

I do a lot of ODD work now with a mix of CDDs and separations and looking to focus more on ODDs when I get to London. Open to moving away from S& / PwC if needed.

1: EY - FDD, home city, very good $$ for FDD

2: PwC - post-merger integration, DDV team (essentially M&A Consulting) - bigger city, always been keen to move

Coming as a Senior in Audit, with recent FDD exposure (2 deals, obviously not much). I was looking for something more than just number crunching, wanting a mix of quant / quali / strategic work. M&A Advisory or a Corp Strategy role is where I'm looking to end up long term.
