Potentially dumb question, but why might an interviewer add me on LinkedIn after they asked for references a few weeks ago? My profile is public, after all.

This invite came after I asked for an update and they explained that they're busy with the college recruiting season (but reassured me they'll call back with an update).

I’ve never had LI send an invite on my behalf. But I would not overthink it OP. They prob added you to stay in their network. I would say this piece of info is neither good nor bad. Just is.

What's the protocol for adding internal portal mockups for a client to your portfolio? Is it expected, something that requires asking permission but is still generally OK, or frowned upon? I'm a developer trying to pivot to UX.

Nothing in the contract bc our SOW was originally dev only. If I need permission, I have a good rapport with the Corp Comm director and VP so would I contact them on LinkedIn, or is this something that's normally done through the employer?
