Please people, think about the C-suite.
Geezuz. Genuinely feel sorry for these people. I’ve been in 3 indies that had this problem.
The problem with all of these places is that they do not hire good enough accountants and take on the wrong brands with payment terms and cash flow that they cannot manage. They are so financially irresponsible, poor at planning and then have to audacity to blame the staff. I once had a founder suggest to me, when they delayed payment, that I manage my finances better to account for unforeseen circumstances and eventualities…
If this company were securing investors then they should keep the staff up-to-date and motivated by the fact. If they can’t pay their full wage, then pay some of it. People have financial obligations.
To anyone in this situation, just jump ship, you do not owe the company anything and more often than not the situation will not improve. It is not worth the stress that they put themselves in.

Maybe they should pay more so we can build emergency funds
Everything happening right now is entirely his fault and this story is just the tip of the iceberg.

CEO did it to themselves. Learn to run a business better.
That whole article is sad to see for the employees but the ceo saying
“[W]orking with a delayed paycheck does not have anything to do with getting together. You work here or you don’t,”
followed by
“I made a culture of flexibility. Do not misinterpret that as weakness. I will not flex more.”
is crazy work. 🥴🥴 no flex for the people who are working for free to save your company huh? i hope they all walk out.
exactly! a “culture of flexibility*”
*not me though

When you have the opportunity to commit to a wasteful money pit of a NYC lease when you can’t even make payroll, you have to do it.
